Editing the Story with Image and Sound – Workshop

Learn the principles and techniques of video editing – the backbone of filmmaking. Whatever your interest or desired role in filmmaking, understanding editing is fundamental to your success. The editor is a detail-oriented storyteller, craftsperson, organizer, and technician. We often rediscover and sometimes reinvent our stories in the edit.

Through demonstrations and hands-on exercises, students will learn the post-production process, storytelling, and editing techniques. We will weave and layer moving images and sounds with Adobe Premiere and use the three-point editing method to construct scenes and stories from rough cut to completion.

Equipment Requirements: Free access to Adobe Premiere editing software is provided with enrollment. Students must have a computer that meets the minimum specifications required by Adobe Premiere Pro 2020. Footage will be provided for the editing exercises or students can work with their own material.
