NIRV Screen&Discuss brunch hosted by Showing-Up-for-Racial-Justice

Join Showing-Up-for-Racial-Justice (SURJ-Boston) and CSFilm for a discussion about the impact on immigrants and refugees of race relations, the current administration’s policies and budget cuts, and COVID.

The discussion will be informed by the voices of local activists and the screening of:

  • She’s an American Child, by Rafael DeLeon, about Annabelle, a Dominican DACA recipient – who will join us for the conversation – and her undocumented mother;
  • Seeking Settled Ground, by Mohammad Arifuzzaman, about the challenges and opportunities facing Anwar – a newly arrived Rohingya refugee.? We will be joined by Anwar’s resettlement case worker Rahmatullah Aka, from the International Institute of New England;
  • Worlds Apart at Home, by Abdirahman Abdi about the integration of Somali refugees in inner-city America. Abdi will also join the conversation.
